His story
Idrīs is mentioned only briefly in the Qur'an, but with the highest praise: he was truthful, a prophet, and patient. He belonged to an early generation of humanity, calling people to worship the One God at a time when the memory of Ādam's teaching was fading.
Allah says He raised him to a high station — understood by the commentators as an elevated rank with Allah, and by some as a literal raising. Whatever the detail, the point of his story is that a quiet life of truthfulness and patience is enough to be honoured by Allah forever.
