His story
Ayyūb was given wealth, health, and a large family, and he was grateful. Then everything was taken: his property, his children, and finally his body, until only his faith and a patient wife remained.
He never accused his Lord of injustice. His entire complaint was a whisper of need: 'Indeed, adversity has touched me, and You are the most merciful of the merciful.' Allah answered immediately, told him to strike the ground with his foot, and a cool spring gushed out for washing and drinking.
His health returned, his family was restored and doubled, and the Qur'an sums up his life in one sentence: 'We found him patient — an excellent servant. Indeed, he was one repeatedly turning back to Allah.'
